Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital & Research Center:

Research

SSCHRC has a separate Research Wing and 8 research publications have seen the print during the last one year in the International Journals. We have established a Research Ethics committee which has approved research in the following areas:
• Clinical drug trials
• Research in molecular biology and tumor cell genetics
• Role of MRI in improving the quality of brain tumor radiation.
• Nano medicine in the treatment of cancer.
• Micronutrients in improving the immunity against cancer.
• Research in Holistic Cancer Treatment supported by Sri Vidhyaranya Prathistana Holistic Research Centre.
• Establishing a Biorepository.

SSCHRC is looking to collaborate with leading international research agencies and institutions to carry out research in the field of cancer

We are launching the Sri Shankara National Centre for Cancer Prevention and Research on 30th December, 2017 to focus on community oncology to conduct longitudinal studies with intervention strategies in rural areas to bring down cancer incidence with lifestyle and dietary changes and regular follow-up for several years. Our aim is to play a very major role in creating awareness about Cancer so as to detect and treat cancer in precancerous condition or early stages through cancer outreach programs.

Academics

Accreditation with the National Board of Examinations for the academic year 2016-17 towards a DNB in Surgical oncology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Pathology has been sought and compliance reports are under study by the NBE. This will get the best future medical talent. We also plan to start fellowship programs in specialized oncology areas in affiliation with universities within the country and abroad.

The hospital organizes and conducts regular CMEs (Continuing Medical programs) in all Oncological subspecialities.

Oncology nursing training program in collaboration with the National Skill development Corporation (NSDC) has trained three batches of nurses and the fourth batch will commence shortly. Training programs for caregivers and technologists has commenced.
